We now have an exciting opportunity for a Metro Project Accountant in our Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) Directorate where you will be responsible for providing financial support for Midland Metro Alliance.
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.
This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

About the role
The Midland Metro Alliance is a team of planning, design and construction specialists responsible for building a number of new tram extensions over the coming decade on behalf of the West Midlands Combined Authority. The exciting extensions will help deliver a lasting legacy, aiding social and economic regeneration across the region.
The scope of the role is to:
As the Project Accountant you will be responsible for the day to day financial management in accordance with the PAA, policies and procedures. This includes ensuring that projects are controlled and managed to deliver the agreed target cost and cash projections, whilst mitigating business risk and undue commercial exposure.
· ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified accountant
· Educated to degree level or equivalent
· Project Accounting experience (light rail / construction industry)
· Management and organisational skills
· Efficient presentation and communication skills
· The capacity to be influential and amenable
