We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Project Delivery team within Corporate Services Directorate as project manager. The individual shall have project management experience in the development and/or delivery of projects, both capital and revenue funded, with adherence to an approved gated project lifecycle.
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.
This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.
About the role
The Project Delivery Team provide project management personnel to work upon a variety of emerging schemes for the WMCA as a whole, including infrastructure projects for TfWM. Project Managers support Project Sponsors from inception through the life of the project providing a coordinated route to delivery at the highest possible standard.
To succeed in the role…
You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with senior managers and have the ability to prioritise and manage your work through a pro-active approach in order to meet deadlines. You will be politically sensitive, with the ability to successfully manage delicate situations.
To meet the requirements of the role, successful candidates will be educated to Degree level or similar. Candidates are also required to have a project management qualification.
The candidate will be required to demonstrate best practice in project management whilst working on individual projects, projects within a programme and portfolio management within our interview process.
