We have an exciting opportunity for an Executive Assistant role in our Chief Executive’s Office and are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, political awareness, and extensive experience of supporting a senior executive officer.
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. It works collaboratively with councils, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Central Government and others to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands.

A new £350m housing deal with Central Government aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031, while a skills deal provides the basis for a different approach to improving skills across the region. The region was recently selected as a 5G test bed area, and will be the first to have a Local Industrial Strategy.

The Chief Executive’s Office is a small team that provides programme management and administrative support to the Chief Executive and Strategic Leadership Team. It is at the heart of the organisation and works closely with Directors and Mayor’s Office to support the executive leadership of the organisation and its relationships with a range of stakeholders.
About the role
As Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive of the WMCA you will be working at the heart of the organisation. You will provide direct support that enhances the Chief Executive’s effectiveness and profile. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating a busy schedule, ensuring that travel, briefings and other arrangements to support that are in place. You will be adept at developing and maintaining office systems and processes that enable efficient and effective management of diaries, correspondence and events.
To succeed in the role …
You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with senior officials, elected members, and a range of other senior stakeholders. An ability to write clear notes, correspondence and briefings is also required. Resilient and well-organised, you will have the ability to work under pressure and prioritise whilst maintaining performance and work quality, and be able to respond readily to changing deadlines. Proficient in the use of office systems you will develop and maintain the processes and practice that effectively and efficiently manages our information and co-ordinates our activity.
